FAQs (frequently asked questions)

1. What do I need for my event?
It is company policy to meet with our clients to discuss their wishes for the event. With our many years experience we try to ensure that all their requirements are met at the minimum cost without duplicating services between suppliers.

2. What size bar do I need?
The size and shape of the bar will depend on the number of guests and the size of the location. Where possible we like to meet the client at the venue to ensure the best possible fit.

3. Who arranges the licence?
We will ensure that your event conforms to current legislation. If a Temporary Event Notice is required we can either make the submission or guide you through your own application.

4. What is the cost of a pay bar?
A deposit is required in advance to secure the date. The money is refundable dependent on the bar takings and any pre paid services. If you require us to submit a Temporary Event Notice there will be a small charge.

5. How will our charity/good cause benefit?
For a pay bar at charity events we agree to repay a percentage of the takings dependent on the size of the event.

6. Can we have a bar outside?
We can provide and erect small marquees to house our bars outside of your main room if required.

7. Do we need electricity?
Access to a 13amp power point is desirable but not essential as we can cable from a central generator, or provide our own.

8. How long does it take to set up?
Set up time is dependent on the size of the event and the access - usually about three to four hours. We therefore need to gain access before your guests arrive or the day before.

9. What drinks do you serve at the pay bar and how much do they cost?
See our bar drinks section and if you require something special let us know before the event. All drinks are served at pub type prices, ask for our current bar price list.

10. Must I have a full bar?
You can have as little or as much choice as you require.

11. Can my guests buy wine by the bottle?
Yes all the wine behind the bar is available at reasonable prices per bottle.

12. Do you serve at table?
Yes we can provide whatever table drinks service you wish.

13. Can I provide my own wine?
Yes, however there would be a small charge for glasses and serving if required.

14. Do you provide reception drinks?
We can provide any choice of reception drink with which to greet your guests or serve drinks supplied by the client.

15. What insurances do I need?
With our drinks packages we carry Public Liability Insurance for £1 million. This can be increased if you require.

16. Do you arrange catering?
We can put you in touch with experienced caterers.

17. Can you supply the marquee?
We could hire you small marquees suitable for the bar only, for larger areas we would put you in contact with a marquee company, why not visit J.G.Marquees.
